Dealership History
The location of Sun Chevrolet dates back to 1926. The first Chevy dealership on this property was named Pattinson Chevrolet. Pattinson Chevrolet operated as a family business under William Pattinson until 1947, who passed it to Tommy Pattinson. Tommy ran the dealership until 1979, when he sold it to Joe Caputo. This is when the dealership officially became Sun Chevrolet, continuing the original vision.
Todd Caputo took over for Joe and has been running the business since 2017, expanding it to Cicero, Cortland, and Elbridge before becoming a Sonic Automotive dealership. Sonic Automotive empowers Sun Chevrolet with more resources to put the customer first. We continue to operate under the "courtesy is always free on this corner" motto established in 1926.
While the corner has changed from just one car shop to a multi-acre state-of-the-art facility, we're proud to have over 100 years of Chevy dealership experience under our belt. We sell to thousands of people per year, serving generations of families in the central New York region.
